I was at 99 per cent Master rank, just waiting to hit Dangerous, and I had an idea the "Right On, Commander!" message had been restored to the game. I turned on my screen capture software (Shadowplay) and blasted a few of those pesky pirates. in order to edit on the fly, I turned off Shadowplay after every kill, and then back on just before closing with the next enemy ship. So about 2 minutes after my last kill (with Shadowfire off) the messageL
Pilot Federation Rank promotion
comes up on the screen, I scrambled to turn shadowfire back on, but just missed it. "Bother!" I said to myself.
I noticed though that there was a message in the comms area (accessed with the 2 key) entitled "Pilot Federation Rank promotion". I didn't click on it or open it, I quit the game and checked youtube for any info.
I found it contains this sparkly little animation:

Cool, I thought - turned Shadowplay back on and reloaded the game. You've guessed the message was no longer there, it was apparently deleted unopened.
"Bother!" I said again, slightly more loudly this time.
Seriously, if anybody didn't know (like me) apparemtly if you don't look at the message at that session it goes away.
I know its trivial, but I'm a little bit gutted.
