Pilotable Skimmers

Considering that bumping into one with your ship will cause you to loose power and shields if not your ship... No, the skimmers are way too overpowered to be allowed into the hands of mere mortals.

Could be a cool addition. You could hack a skimmer and control it via telepresence from your SRV to scout and infiltrate bases. Take down defenses before moving in with your SRV.

I agree - I'd love to have a skimmer for scouting about on planets. I mean, we already kind of can with Fighters, but not every ship has that option.
And the EMP-on-ramming effect could be disabled for player Skimmers.

Well skimmers are too small to fit a person, I guess they could be used like limpets and gather minerals.

Launch them from the mother ship and you can command them with the srv with commands like; dump certain minerals, return to mother ship, or defend.

A similar thing can be done to create carrier ships, un-pilot able drones capable of being launched like fighters and you can launch 6 at a time they're smaller than fighters and weaker, they can operate like the thargon swarm

How about something that operates via remote? Walks , can fight and fit into the SRV or Ship's cargo bay? Even has its own airborne drone.

I think more variety in planetary vehicles would be great, whatever the method. Whether it's more types of SRV or pilotable skimmers, I'm on board.

I'm still stung when I equip a planetary vehicle hangar and I'm given the false choice of the Scarab or nothing.

I am also hoping for boats and submarines, eventually...
