Shortly after the addition of Fleet Carriers I bought one packed all my ships into it and headed away out on a long term exploration/mining adventure. Got back to the bubble this week and started selling off my mining acquisitions. Noticed straight away that flying through the slot in my Federal Corvette which I have never had a problem with previously in Horizons was not as easy but put it down to a long time just landing on an open deck on my carrier. However it got worse, I would be perfectly lined up with the slot and as soon as I went ahead it was like it moved making me hit either the top or bottom. Got fined twice but more worried about getting destroyed in a 40mcr rebuy ship carrying 424 tons of prime cargo worth well over 100mcr so temporarily have installed an autopilot.
As I say I have been out in the black a long time first in Horizons but have been playing Odyssey alone the last 2-3mths but yesterday before installing the pilot I opened back into Horizons, went from the station to my carrier and back again without any enter/leave problems at all. I am unsure if this is meant to be more difficult in Odyssey or is it some sort of bug?. The fact is I am not enamoured of having a pilot on board and have always felt that if you can't fly it you shouldn't have it.
