Pilot's Licence

I just cleared my save to have a look at the new starting zone.
After creating my new Commander I was greeted with picture like this...

That's brilliant but...

Where can we get a Pilot's Licence like this for our existing commanders?
I would love to have something like that for my main commander and have it printed.

If a completely new player saw this... Ship name... ID Plate. then a little bit later found out that they needed to pay into a microtransaction to have it displayed on their ship, would they be justifiably anoyed?

I just wonder if a basic name plate should be given in game for free.
It absolutely should be free.

Alas, FD have already put the basic nameplate in the store for a price.

You've been around here long enough to know what kind of storm would erupt if they reduced the price to zero.

Though I would personally love to see that...

To be honest when they first introduced the name plates I thought that the basic one will be given out the same way the elite ranks decals are, well ...

I did a clear save on one of my profiles, and after about 15 minutes in the permit area for newbies, I found it too lacking for me (I have over 11,000 hours in ED). I did another clear save and started in LHS 3447. I feel much more comfortable out there in the dangerous areas of Open Mode. :D

Make a new name plate, one which is slightly better than basic (somehow) for those of us that have already paid and then give the basic away for free so that new players can get through their first day in ED without feeling like they might need to have their wallet in a holster.

Yeah. I'd agree that most of the CMDRs in there were seasoned CMDRs just in there to see this newbie permit area.
And no surprises here, but that's exactly what I was doing in there myself.
