Finally it arrived.
So uninstalled the revered G2 reverb having played elite with it for over 2 years, and fired up this awesome beast.
A couple of reboots later and a very straightforward install, I opened my eyes as elites splash faded into the menu ingame.
Oh......ohh my god!
Wow!!
First immediate apparent thing was the clarity, colours, sharpness, no screendoor!
I'd just used steam VR so expected lag with such a high resolution. Got none. No lag at all! And it's stunning! Breathtaking !
A tad uncomfortable cos it's a bit heavier than the G2 and the lense inserts too close to my eyes so I'll need (ordered one) a 15mm face gasket. But still that aside its just fabulous

Definitely a worthy upgrade.
Sure I gotta tweek this n that but it runs smoothly all bells on ultra!
Stupid resolution 4k by 3k or whatever I'll post details soon but I just wanted to big up this headset.

It's much better than I anticipated truth be told.
I've tested it I. Combat ship to ship, I've landed at bases I've done all sorts and even though it shows ingame it's running at 30fps or whatever (bright red in VRfps) it just runs smoothly no juddering or anything! I don't get it!
I was about to tone it down lower this lower that to get it "in the green" but weirdly it doesn't seem to need it toning down where it should it just blasts through it?
Idk I'm doing more tests tonight see what's what. But that old addage if it ain't broke!..
I'm tempted to just leave it in 120hz foveated 4k yadder yadder cos it runs!!
It shouldn't, it should be slow as **** but it ain't!
Interestingly once l go on foot it drops straight into the green - perfect. 120fps apparently according to VRfps.
Overall this headset is a beast. It's the one we're waiting for pricewise.
I'll spend all night fiddling about see how or why it's running so well.
I set room boundaries using a paddle to ensure I was stationary in the cockpit when lm parked and looking about. That doesn't seem to work so well so work in progress there. Yaws about a tad. [Edit] (only yaws when your stationary in the cockpit parked but once you menu select it stops), But once I'm either on foot or flying that vanishes and it's just jaw droppingly gorgeous!
Makes me not wanna fiddle..but I'm gonner cos I want that to stop and get it in the green in flight. Finnicky yes course we all are lol.
It's late August 2024.
3090fe and a 7 7800X3D with 64 Meg ddr5 ram
It shouldn't run like this in this high resolution but it does!
If your umming and Arring, don't.
