I've ordered one!
6 to 8 weeks delivery time.
I dunno if any other cmdr has one?
I'm soooo looking forward to elite oddity with a decent headset. Alas the g2 reverb had its day.
I'll happily post my humble opinion as to whether other VR cmdrs should consider this rather excellent piece of kit.
Since testing the pimax crystal I just fell in love with this beast. And the light version is perfect for spacers.
I'll post soon as I fire it up let you all know what l think.
In the meantime if any cmdr does have one let us know what you think.

Please do write down your thoughts about this headset. My Rift S is still working (audio has been deactivated, which is of less importance, as I use headphones, anyway), and I have been toying with the idea of getting a Quest 3, but the lack of display port throws me off a bit (I have a Fritzbox 7590 at home, and WLAN is not very good, so AirLink is not really an option, and when I tried a Quest 3, the LINK cable was not terribly reliable, either (though it might have been the cable itself, which wasn't very good, apparently)).

BTW, have you ordered the version with or without local dimming? Dimming seems to make quite a difference as far as contrast is concerned, but this version is somewhat costlier (over here, about 200 Euros more).

Yes I ordered the local dimming version.
Unfortunately due to massive demand I've been informed by pimax that it may be as late as Sept 2024 before I actually receive it.
Having actually tested (albeit briefly) a pimax crystal headset I can confirm it's clarity and "blackness" and lack of any screendoor as 100%
I only wish I'd had the extra money for the full monty. But the light does have some advantages for us consigned to seated and tethered, namely its actual lightness, 300g! Or so.
I've already received my prescription lense inserts for it.
So just gotta be patient. Once I do get my hands on it I'll fire it up on openVR composite etc. As steamVR isn't as quick.
The G2 reverb is a good headset, apart from the obvious screendoor, the black looks fab. Colors etc all good. I'm hoping the crystal light will beat it hands down.

I am still oscillating between Quest 3 and this one . . . the problem with LINK might be due to my mainboard's USB ports. Still haven't figured that one out. An extension card would be the obvious answer, but I only have a free PCIE x1 port left, and the more demanding expansion cards want a x4 port.

I have (slightly outdated) prescription lenses for my Rift S, but my glasses are not that massive, so I probably would not buy new ones for a Crystal Light, but rather try to squeeze my glasses in... We'll see. Should take some time, however, I have to prioritise, after all. :D

And it runs perfectly 🥰
PC is a bit hot! So I put a big fan blowing over it nearby.
120hz refresh.
No reprojection wotsoever yay!
No tearing or anything!
Spot on.
Only gripe is having to do the boundary which is a split second thing.
Local dimming dropped from extreme to quality (I think)

Pimax crystal light running 1.30 (1.33 is bugged atm see discord)
Gpu is a 3090fe
7800x3d cpu
64 gig ddr5
Win 11
1200w psu hehe.
Oh defo using ingame upscaling. Highest quality. Helps alot
Hmd 1.25
SS 1.0
The gpu is overclocked by about 10%

Overall this is a very good headset. You'll defo need a 15mm gasket and a special kit too that customises the gasket to fit your face type. The default gasket is next to useless.
The headset is still front heavy so a counterweight at the back solves that issue.
The settings I've posted above are true and genuine, and it runs perfectly. Even in space stations in the bubble where I'm currently at in prep for PP 2.0
The clarity is just incredibly pure! Crystal clear.
The black is most certainly black.
The pimax portal works. But expect issues with your seated border. I just click the fast setting and its done each time I play.
If your umming and arring don't..!
Get one if you love elite in VR
