Pimp My Imp - What sort of customisation would you like

Well we know certain members want a onesie that zips around their ship....Or the bright orange ASBO sidewinder.....

We know there will be a few decals for people who have pledged, and a gold badge for founders of the elite ect but how far should customization go and what would you like your ship to look like or have on it?

Personally I would like to paint my Cobra black with stars on it ;) just so its hard to spot............

I'll stand out like a sore thumb against a hyper Red Giant though or a nice blue planet........... Unless i can have chameleon paint... :D

Custom name as string and custom colorscheme as a datablock. That's about it for me actually. If "clans" become a thing, keep the option to expand on having clan tags as string, maybe limited size clan logo areas stamped on hulls etc. But those should be omitted in the initial release until a major need for them has been proven.

I used to be heavily involved with Arma (realism based milsim shooter) which also have support for custom face textures and custom sounds. Very few servers (game has dedicated server support) allows custom sounds because of the hit on net traffic/bandwidth, and a lot also denies custom facepaint because everyone looking like clowns distracts so much from the realism aspect.

So I tend to support customization that can be shared across network using as little data traffic as possible, i.e. a face index lookup value or seed value that creates a certain customization, rather than sending actual data. Of course only the devs know traffic management, but I'm sure they keep an eye out for peaks and try to reduce those :)

If ED was a strict SP experience however, things change - then it should be no limit to what you can customize other than memory management and dev resources spent on it :D. The customization choices in Skyrim were far below par for a SP only RPG.
