Ping system for highlighting things for other players in your team

It'll probably be more relevant to Odyssey and on foot gameplay, but it could be quite cool to add a ping system like other cooperative shooters do.

Being able to highlights points of interest to members of your wing with a single contextual click:

  • Highlight a material drop
  • Highlight ammo/energy packs
  • Highlighting enemies for players to focus on
  • Pinging a spot on the ground for players to meet at ("Group up here" ping - all CMDRs in the team see a marker on their map/HUD)

It's been highly successful for promoting multiplayer behaviour in a bunch of squad based games.

One of the recent implementations that received a lot of praise was Apex Legends

I dont really expect features from dedicated shooters to come into ED pretty much like i dont expect an 1-to-1 galaxy to come in AL
After all, EDO is a DLC to the space game that will allow pedestrian combat but without a full focus on it.

Pretty much like i dont expect any changes to carriers...
FD usually ads gameplay loops and thats all. They rarely see any further development.

The fact that it comes from a shooter game is irrelevant. It's an amazing feature that allows players to communicate effectively and easily.

I'm just trying to tell you to keep your hopes in check since it may never happen.

FD will be busy to get the launch going on properly
Then to patch the mess that will be the first 4-8 weeks
Then to get the EDO ready for consoles.
Then to patch the Consoles.

We are looking at 7-8 month of hardwork - just to make sure whatever features they will bring in the game at launch will be working as expected.

And not at last did UT had those? because that seem to be tech level for fps used in EDO

I've got my hopes in check, but thanks for the advice and timeline.

This is a suggestions forum and I am offering a suggestion.

If they're bolting an FPS game on to the space game, hopefully they can consider introducing some of the good quality of life features those games have.
