Discussion Piping communications to a separate device

Is there method through which the in game communications can be piped to a specific device.
IE. My headset is for comms and my speakers are for all other sounds.

i'm not a hundred percent sure what you mean
but if you right click on the speaker icon at the bottom right of your screen then select playback devices or recording devices you can set it from there

I mean having normal in game sounds playing to one set of speakers, while the communication sounds from in game get piped to another set of speakers.
So any in game communications (to include station comms) are going to headphones and explosions/laser sounds are going to the desktop speakers.

I don't see an in game option, so I was wondering if anyone ever experimented with this.

i use my soundcard to have discord through single-sided headphones, and the game sound through the speakers but I can't recall any way to split out in-game comms.

I want to add an +1 for this.
At least windows lets us choose between a default sound output and communications in/output. It'd be great if Elite: Dangerous could leverage this too.

So It could also better determine which of my microphones (I have 2 webcams with a mic each, a dedicated streaming mic and a headset mic attached to my PC) to use.
It should default both (Ingame voice comms, input and output) to the windows communications device and the rest of the sound output to the windows default output.
