Pips

is there a particular reason for not being able to change pip configuration in
super cruise?

Design limitation at the moment which is being worked on. Shield recharge levels and pip management should not be influenced by super cruise.

True, but still practical to be able to change them for when you come out of cruise. Not a major problem though.

This is the reason. I usually like to have 4 shields, 2 engines while in supercruise, in case someone interdicts me. I often forget to change over, so being able to modify while in supercruise would be nice.

You could change them in one of the betas. Just a guess but I'm assuming it was changed, among other things, to save processing power and cut down on the time (the shake) out of sc into normal space, which was pretty lengthy?

Well I cant???
You may have set the power management button for something else in the landing override key binding.
I use the hat of my flight stick to manage power but as soon as my landing gear deploys, the hat is used for pitch and roll (since I use the flight stick for throttle and lateral).

Pips in sc makes no difference to anything in sc (atm) so no point in being able to change them.

Not true, If you get that gut feeling that you might get interdicted (which I get all the time) then whilst in sc you can "prepare" your pips accordingly....and not have to fidget with it once you are interdicted and someone starts firing at you.....

You can set your pips after dtopping out of SC so quickly it doesn't make make a great deal of difference and how do you know whether you need SYS or ENG until you know what you are up against?

If you do know (like you always want to default to SYS in your example) you should have prepared before the jump to SC.

To be fair I am not suggesting it wouldn't be useful to be able to fiddle with pips in SC only that you can't because it isn't in use. Afterall if ever there were time to fiddle with your ships setup in-game, SC would be it.... ; )
