Newcomer / Intro Piracy fines

Thought about diversifying a bit playing ED, getting into piracy
While watching videos about it, I see that after interdicting NPC's you get fined
Is that normal ? How do you get rid of the fines after you pirate ?

Yes, except in anarchy systems.

A fine you can go to the nearest starport and pay, provided the faction it is for has a presence in that system. If it is a bounty you have, you cannot pay it off while the timer is active. That you must wait to expire, jump to another system to clear (it will say "on H-jump") Then it will become a fine, you can come back to the system and pay it off.

But lets be honest. What pirate worth the name ever gave a rat's bottom about paying off his own fines and bounties?

You are absolutely correct Don Alvarez I got confused with the terminology there, it's not the money I'm worried about, it's the bounties

Bounties have a lifespan shown in the transactions screen and an issuer shown in the same location.

The way to deal with them is go somewhere where the issuer isn't present and wait out the 8 minutes to 8 days (plus?) for the bounty to expire into a legacy fine, then you find a station linked in some way with the issuer and pay off the legacy fine. Nothing to it, as long as nobody uses a KWS on you and tries to get rich quick selling off your head on Galactic Bay.

Coming up things will get a little simpler there will be a geezer that for a percentage will arrange for your fine to be paid off without you having to trek back there, he will also, for a fee, collect your bounty rewards that you picked up destroying interdictors in every system between Quince and Maia.
