Piracy Missions

I was thinking about this yesterday and thought I would post here to get some ideas and feedback. I was wondering if adding piracy missions to the game would breath some life into the somewhat unpopulr career of being a space pirate. At the least it would give comanders an introduction to something they might have otherwise never tryed. I was thinking these missions would only be issued by a few of the minor faction types like anarchy and fudal. Getting a specific cargo or cargos out of a ship and on to yours then back to the faction would complete the mission. I suppose blowing the target up after being robbed would be up to the individual who took the mission. Thanks for any thoughts and input.

We already have these, no one does them because it's a huge pain to find specific types of cargo from NPCs and because it's near impossible to get NPCs to stay put for your hatch breakers.

Have you ever actually tried a piracy mission?

It's easy to get the specific cargo because the mission will give you a ship, a system and an ETA which can be further narrowed down by scanning the nav beacon (or by honking a system scanner, although what any self-respecting pirate would be doing with one of these on board is anyone's guess).

You can hatchbreak the target ships to your heart's content - it'll register as a hostile action but they wont make any effort to fight back. Just trail them and siphon off all you need without firing a shot. This is very dull.

But the main reason that I don't like piracy missions is because the target ship rarely carries the total amount of cargo required, meaning you have to grab what you can, exit the instance and rob the same ship again and again until you've got the required amount. It totally defenestrates immersion and is frankly quite silly.

It's much more fun and profitable to hunt diamond miners, tbh.
