Pirate didnt get wanted status after attacking

Just been attacked by a non wanted 'pirate' (unusually) whilst solar refueling at Furbaide and despite several hits to my shields and reducing me down to 75% hull he never received a wanted status so I couldn't fight back. Had to run away in the end and the wally hit me several times before I managed to get away.

So something in the new accidental damage changes in 1.1 is not working well.

Ive never actually been interdicted before by a non-wanted ship, other than police ships, but after hitting a police ship which I assumed was another pirate I always look very carefully now at who is interdicting me before I retaliate. I actually like the fact you can be caught out by non pirates and police but definitely he should have changed to wanted as soon as he interdicted me really. I don't know why they don't change it to that, I should not need to wait till they actually fire at me for them to get a wanted status. Interdicting itself should be a (lesser) crime.

You must have the 'Report Crimes Against Me' option turned on. If you were in an 'Anarchy' system, everyone will show up as 'clean'. See if either of these issues are involved.

Hardly any pirates are flying around with a Wanted status, its very frustrating for us bounty hunters because we can't even attack 'known' pirates without getting a bounty on ourselves.

It was Furbaide which is not anarchy as far as I know. Dont know if I accidentally turned off the report crimes though, I know I was looking at that stuff recently so its possible.

Why is that, has it just recently been changed?

That seems very unbalanced if it is indeed the case. :S

You can pay off your bounty at any station. Players that actually have bounties are very rare. Most pirates clear their bounty, although there are some that keep them or even try to make them as high as possible.
Killing another player in a combat ship is almost impossible if that player is intent on fleeing. THey can also switch to solo mode at any time, because being locked to your current mode when wanted still hasn't happened yet (see DDF).

Get a cargo hold, just a size 2 will do to keep the mass down, and put some really cheap garbage in it. Anything will do, polymeres, hydrogen, coffee. Pirates will scan you, notice your cargo, and attack. Which allows you to return fire without problem.
