Pirate Kill Count Resets

There is a bug that resets kill count on Hunt Pirate missions.

The pirate count is reset when any npc offers a mission update for that mission. It would appear that it also resets the kill count for other hunt pirate missions that are currently active.

I have experienced this numerous times and it can be very frustrating.

Typical scenario:
Most of the time but not always I will have a few overlapping hunt pirate missions.
On one I may have to kill 6 and another 4 pirates.
I head off and kill 2 pirates, both mission show 2 pirate kills.
My next NPC encounter offers me a mission update, abandon mission or kill 2 system authority etc.
on rechecking the missions the kill count has been reset.

As you can imagine quite often I'll have 5 kills out of 6, get the annoying NPC and my count is reset. Quite frustrating.

I have submitted a bug report however if anyone can shed any light on other things that you have definitively confirm reset the count please post.
 
Indeed this can be very frustrating. I usally wait till I'm offered to abandon the mission (or whatever else) and then I start hunting pirates. You wont get the offer a second time.
 
Yes, however for efficiency I often try to stack pirate missions that have overlapping systems so as a result it can take a while for all of them to get the updated mission offers. Also if you have any kills built up on any of your missions it resets the count on all of them.
 
Yes, I've encountered this numerous times. Frustrating.

I now tend to wait UNTIL i've gotten the *inevitable* USS other option offer (these would be more interesting if they didn't happen every single time) before starting my hunt, otherwise it's bound to reset when there's only one left - and you can't do anything about it!
 
Yes, I've ticketed it.

Agreed jadefriendly the other option offers on every mission are just too frequent devaluing them and spoiling gameplay.
 
I ticketed this earlier this week too, along with transaction tab screenshots of each step of the mission from start to successful completion (staying on mission and not deviating). No response as yet.
 
I got that when I was 5 of 7. I was >.<

And its virtually impossible to avoid the reset on larger counts.
 
I hate this.

Anyone know if this is a bug or working as intended?
