Newcomer / Intro Pirate Kill Missions

I have been exploring/trading up to now and have decided to start killing stuff too, I often see "hunt down some pirates" missions which seem to pay fairly well but how do you find the pirates? there are system names given but a system can be pretty damn huge and without a little guidance I don't understand how you can find the right ones.

Any help pointers or suggestions would be appreciated

Yeah, I had a mission to kill 2 pirates. I found one but that was it, Time ran out before I could find another.
That said, Another time I visited an extraction facility (just to see what it was) which seems to be where you go to mine (have not tried mining). A pirate showed up so I let him have it. 12K thank you. I'm about to leave and another shows up. Another 8k. There were plenty of miners and authorities around too so, I rekon if I got into trouble I could have backed off and the NPC's would have covered my ass. So if you wants pirate killing action.... Try looking for those extraction facilities.

Pirates are usually the wanted ones in a sidewinder, cobra etc (ie combat orientated ship) - last pirate mission I did had an anaconda and imperial dropship also count as pirates. You'll find them at Nav beacons, hanging around asteroid belts and also at USSs. If you go bounty hunting make sure you equip and use a Kill Warrant Scanner to maximize the amount of bounty you can get from kills.

The payout you get from bounties often far exceeds the reward for the mission, last one I did the mission payout was 19,000CR but the bounties added up to something like 150,000CR
