Yes, I know that's the game, but they didn't even try to interdict me, just fired on me as I was making steady progress, making sure the entrance was clear.

Feel for you mate, I really do. Yet another case for an Open PvE mode or joining a suitable Pvt Group?
I only PG now with friends just so these kind of events are avoidable.
You just became someone else's content "in game" and have lost months of TIME investment. All they had to do was pull the trigger for a few seconds I'm guessing? It can't add up can it... Just don't be in Open when you have this kind of value onboard your ship.

If I had months of exploration data I'd think twice before trying to dock at a station where a community goal is taking place. In retrospect, you probably think that, too.

I'm thinking that now! I was down to 35% hull after bouncing off a planet, Maia was closest to get to tonight. I'll know next time...

I have both great sympathy, and no sympathy at the same time

I wouldn't go to a CG area in open unless I was willing to die, they are honey pots for a reason and there tends to be mayhem in open wherever ones at.

Still I hope you don't go mad OP and you can have some more fun instead, afterall thats the real currency right?

Me too, it's my own fault for not thinking - hadn't checked up on the current CGs and all that, just went there as it was closest. You die and learn.

Situatioanal awareness isnt a fault, its just additional thinking and the hyper focused amounts of CG is also another weakness, massively focused hypergrinding to treat the player base like food for pirates.

Many die and learn and many decide to ignore community goals and follow their own paths.

Destroying you for no reason, just interdict and boom? then that is not a pirate, just pointing that out.

No interdiction, I was lining up to dock and they just took me out with one hit. The station was firing at someone so I was taking it easy - the station needs bigger bullets!!!

Why would anyone, after monts of exploration voyage choose a system that is currently hosting a CG to drop their data off?
