Pirating in Yemba

In amongst all the combat logging threads, I mostly see players who are pirates complaining about traders who are combat logging. But not seeing any of the traders respond who admit to combat logging.

That said, about 15 minutes ago, I'm in my Type 6 returning from a bit of mining out in the Yemba 1 rings, heading back to base to call it a day, and lo I get interdicted by a commander. Call him Pirate Calico. Its not his full name, but then this post isn't really about being upset and naming and shaming, its more an apology, but also something curious happened and wondering if the CMDR in question is on the forums to hear his side.

Pirate Calico immediately introduces himself and demands I dump some cargo (all friendly like though). I do a quick negotiation and he accepts my 5 tons on offer. At this point I'm fiddling to jettison the cargo and realising my cargo hatch has been disabled because Im overdrawn on power, so more fiddling with onlining and offlining modules. Then I dump some cargo.

And then I'm about to wish him on his merry way, only to realize I'm alone in my instance. Now theres heaps of discussion on these forums about traders combat logging, but none so far as I can see where the pirate combat logs. Yet this is exactly what it seemed like. Yet I don't believe he did. But I'm wondering whether the same happened for him where I dissapeard off of his radar too. As such neither do I want him to think I'm just another trader who also combat logs. Hence the apology. (I had to quickly rescoop my cargo before the timer made them disappear, so in part, thank you for disappearing)

But also, I'm wondering if all this combat logging may be some sort of instancing bug, because a trader dissappearing due to "reinstancing" could certainly look like he logged out forcefully.

I'm thinking something might have happened at home to him. Maybe something important and he had to bolt forthwith.

A being in his dwelling may have used the Microwave utility OR it got a knock on the door and logged off in panic to answer it.

Hi Bitrogue,

Glad that you were able to re-scoop your cargo, wouldn't want it to go to waste.

Not a case of dodgy instancing, more a case of us getting our wires crossed. Certainly no need for any apologies, I have immense respect for anyone who chooses to trade or mine in open play, particularly so in areas where crime is known to be rife.

Sometimes I like to try and create little scenarios when I interdict people. As a result, I use a lot of pre-set text macros and already have about 25 or so. Unfortunately, I have yet to work out a way of combining them with the ability to type without alt-tabbing to disable macros, so find it hard to improvise.

I will be adding a new macro as a result of our encounter that says something like, "Hey buddy, scan says you are a little light this run, please be on your way. Feel free to drop by when you are loaded to the gunwhales with Palladium." I tried to convey this by thanking you for your time and frameshifting away - I actually didn't see that you had very fairly offered 5 tons until my FSD engaged. Obviously that must have looked like I accepted the terms of your negotiation and then promptly vanished.
