Pirating NPCs!

Hi guys! I would like to submit something that came to my mind just a sec ago!

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to pirate NPCs? You target him, initialize a communication and then have some choices and one of them is "drop me some cargo". The NPC says so "ok" or "no" and u react in consequence!

That's just a little stuff I think not so hard to implement that can add a lot more of fun in the solo play and the open play don't you think?

To add some more you can imagine having other precommunication like "I want to trade" and can be made only if you are friendly with it's faction or soemthing like that!

What do you think?

You can already do that. It's called "shooting out their shields and attaching a limpet to their hold". Isn't that what pirate NPCs try to do all the time?

Or just shoot out their cargo hatch. Doesn't always seem to work though.

Good way to get illegal cargo if you do this in an anarchy (many smuggler NPCs) but in the absence of some better smuggling mechanics there isn't a ton of point to it; the profits are quite low, particularly after you pay the costs of repairing interdiction damage.

The limpets are horribly ineffectively lately. You're just better off shooting their hold every once in a while but even that is a tedious process.

The other problem with this is when the npc hauler on 10% hull thinks it's a good idea to attack your maxed cobra with it's single laser instead of running away sometimes forcing you to kill them and incur more expense. The bad npc piracy is one of the main reasons why people pirate players instead.

The think I would find nice with that system is that it would be a bit more believable and interactive! Firing the shield then make it drop can be what you do if the answer is no but no exchange is done for now in comms and I find that a little sad! ^^
