Pitching a Sidewinder with an X52

I've been away from the game for a while and now I've returned I've received a nasty shock. While Roll & Yaw controls seem to work nicely, Pitch is just awful. It's as if there's a huge deadzone, and when you come out of it all of a sudden you're pitching like mad. It makes flying through the letterbox an interesting experience.

I've double checked the Controls Option and it looks fine, no deadzone at all. I also tested the joystick in another game, and pitching was fine.

Is it the same for everyone, anyone, or just me?

:S

Are you using a custom profile that you made? I had a similar issue with a profile I made, it worked well for a while then all of a sudden began acting weird with pitching issues.

The only 'fix' was to delete that profile and make a new one from scratch.

Yes, it's very customised.

Thanks for the advice. Hope that's the solution. I think I'll put a ticket in for it.

I hated the dead zone in my X52, so I did "The Magnet Mod".

It now has no dead zone at all. If I move the stick 2mm, there is an appropriate response from my ship.

It be worth checking out this thread too:

One other thing I picked up when googling the issues I had with my X52 was to set a small deadzone in the control panel for both joystick axis. I can't find the thread but I remember it being explained that the X52 can suffer from 'axis drift' now and then if you don't have a smidgen of a deadzone set.

I now have a deadzone set (barely a couple of notches) and I haven't had any issues with the stick since doing that.

As it turns out the problem lay not with the joystick but with its operator. I've been so busy customising, I, shall we say, miscustomised.

Pure stupidity really.
