Interesting. I always knew sharing blueprints with billboards would open a can of worms in terms of content management. I don't mean moderation, but more 'overseeing' the associated content appearing on Steam workshop. Not just the actual video content but even technically the means to download it from "somewhere on the interwebs". [big grin]

I recently noticed that custom JPGs save into the park when you put it on Workshop, without having to worry about folks somehow getting their hands on the custom graphic file. Maybe it works the same for videos.

But if not, I strongly suggest using Dropbox for your custom media. It's free, it's anonymous, and it works like a champ. Many professionals use it to share files for work. So start a Dropbox account, dump your files there, and provide links to them in the description of the Workshop park file.

Is that right... ok I wasn't aware custom image billboards saved with the park.

Yeah, I was surprised to discover this. I'm doing a co-op park. When it was my turn, I put in some custom textures and uploaded the park to Workshop. My partner downloaded it and found that the custom textures were already in place on his end, before I emailed him the graphics.

This is definitely a good thing. Folks are starting to go hog wild with billboards, putting them all over the place as signs, TV monitors, building textures, you name it. Dozens of them per park. It would certainly be a pain if folks who download such parks had to go in and manually apply all the custom graphics.

I suppose Frontier and Steam decided that neither of them is violating anybody's copyright by allowing this, just like YouTube only provides a mechanism to share content. If anybody violates copyrights, it's the individual users.

Actually I'm not sure that's right. I tried downloading a workshop park just now and the custom billboard images did not come through, just a blank screen. Clicking the billboard, the custom image was listed, but did not get downloaded.

Maybe your partner already had the image, or something else happened... but I'm quite sure custom images are not shared along with workshop parks. Happy to be proven wrong, but I think the images need to be shared manually.

I'm not quite sure custom images are saved with the park, either. I've asked folks to test that theory. You have not replicated my results so I'm thinking I was wrong.

I've heard from other folks that the way it really works is that to see the custom textures, you have to have them in your own My Documents\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster\User Media folder. But the locations where those files go is saved with the park, so if you have the files, they'll show up in the appropriate places without you having to put them there yourself.
