Placement of Mining installation help?

Hi, I'm racked with uncertainty. I'm trying to generate enough Construction Points to eventually build a Planetary Starport.... but that's for the future. Meanwhile I need to build a few things - I was thinking my next build might be a Mining Outpost Installation, but where to put it?

I've got a couple of spots adjacent to ringed gas giants, and one off an asteroid ring, but would they be better reserved for something else? Does it's location actually make a difference to the Outpost's output/value? I'm primarily trying to generate points for a future Planetary Starport, but obviously, I'm hoping to place things as efficiently as possible.

I also have a few iceworlds which supposedly have some minerals. Help!

Does it's location actually make a difference to the Outpost's output/value?

Only in the sense that it will affect which stations it generates weak links to and which stations it generates strong links to.

If you're building it for its ability to increase the Extraction economy of a station, it really needs to be co-orbiting with that station.
If you're building it for its Wealth/Standard of Living/T2 point and don't really want extra Extraction economy, then put in a slot you're not otherwise going to develop.
If you're not too bothered about what economy your stations have, pick somewhere it might look good to visit.

It matters if you're not using it to create an extraction market you want to isolate it from any ports.
If you are using it to create an extraction market then you'll want to put it on a body with enough slots to have it and a port. Different things provide a boost to extraction so you'd want to pick a location that maximises the bonuses while having as few as possible other influences.

Planets 1-4 in your system are the logical spot for it as they're natively extraction. If any have multiple orbital slots that'd be a good spot. If you're considering an asteroid station and the gas giant has multiple slots you could put it there.

By itself it's nothing more than a place to go to steal cargo and collect bounties. You can place it thematically or just anywhere.
