Planet Coaster 2 | Update 6 Out Now!

Fantastic Update, thank you so much  I hope that many players will now return in the next few days 💪

Now the game is in the great condition it should have been at release, a lot of content for the money, especially as Planco2 is also in a promotion at the moment. But would have made 50% to be honest :) It's amazing what the 2.99 does for JWE2, almost 10,000 players, congratulations!!!! People are hot for JWE3, so please don't mess up the launch :)

About the update: everything is great, I only miss the entertainers including Miss Elly (Western), will they be added later??? The pirate in particular was mega :)

I'm just waiting for:

  • more shops / vendor machines (there are about 50 from Planco/Planet Zoo)
  • the last missing classic rides like Rocktopus, small Venetian carousel, Condor, Flying Shark, Breakdancer, Tri-Storm)
  • a 2 metre path/employee path would be great
  • Shift plus mouse = multiselect (without pressing I as in part 1)
  • a round object/barrel as a barrier
  • functioning railway barriers
  • simultaneous coop gameplay (I know, remains a dream, haha, but would be a gamechanger!!!)
  • something like TMTK would also be great in the future, it was world class with so many original objects/brands/3D dinos/cars for parking lots etc.

I'm definitely ready for 1-2 paid DLC (kiddie rides/coaster pack, hotels/resorts/shows/arcade games etc.) from August 🥳

But now I wish you a well-deserved break and thanks again for all the free content (y)

Ride photos for coasters, only. [Edit: incl. water-coasters]
It's a bit strange not being able to add ride photos to general tracked rides or at least to water rides like the log flume!
That was the first thing I've tested so far...

I'm really impressed with all the updates. Thank you, Frontier. When I first purchased Planed Coaster 2, I was disheartened, and honestly angry. In the beginning I dedicated many hours to building coasters and blueprints but also spent many hours banging my head against the wall trying to get things to work or trying to work through the wonky bugs/crashes and gameplay design and so, after about a month I shelved the game. Six months later, I am relieved, for me personally, the game finally feels like a real release and no longer prepubescent. It's a shame that it took 6 months of free updates to get to a release ready version but I'm glad the developers took the time to address the players issues and create a game that we can enjoy. Unfortunately, with all its problems it seems many people stopped playing Planet Coaster 2, and who knows how many will return? I hope for the sake of the game and its future there will be enough of a player base to keep the game relevant. Hopefully it's not too late. In appreciation of all the hard work Frontier put into this last 6 months of free updates and bug fixes I'm planning on supporting them with a purchase of some DLC while the Steam Summer Sale is in effect. Again, thank you Frontier for fixing Planet Coaster 2 and giving us a few extras along the way. (y) Question: Now that devs have completed the timeline of updates, what can we expect next? I'd like to see the return of the Planet Coaster OG entertainers and maybe instead of the holiday theme, a fire and ice theme.

Hey Frontier,
Please be aware there are numerous issues with the fairytale and pirate scenery pieces. Including glitchy qualities that cause flashing lights/ flickering. Some textures on pieces are completely wrong as well (pirate themed well).

The 8k limit increase is almost enough to bring me back.
I guess if they release spooky I will come back and see if I can work around the other issues, though I could finish my cathedral now.

I’m honestly really disappointed with the latest update again! Some of the items from both themes look so bad that you just can’t use them. Take a look at the small fountain pieces from the fairytale theme — what were they thinking?

Why can’t the souvenir shop shelves be positioned using position alignment?

Why aren’t the two new counters available in a generic version like all the other counters?

It’s such a shame that there seems to be no quality control at all when it comes to these additional themes. Didn’t they say multiple times that all pieces would have to be rebuilt and reprogrammed from scratch, and that they couldn’t just copy-paste them? Is it possible they weren’t being honest about that?

The dead trees from the western theme are still missing.

What about the entertainers?

Why aren’t there any items from these themes in the souvenir shop?

Why does everything always feel so half-baked?

Also, my janitors still get stuck after a while…

And the bug fix list keeps getting shorter with every update — but the bugs aren’t noticeably going away.

It's because they had better devs when the first game was being developed as well as the updates and DLC's. PC2 is even a step backwards from Zoo somewhat and I don't even have Zoo. The PC2 devs rushed PC2 out last November and after multiple complaints, they released 6 free updates and patches to try to make up for their shortfalls. But, like you said, MissU, they had to recode all the old themes from scratch and they might have screwed up on some of the pieces. Who knows if they will fix them. It's too early to tell if they will ever implement stuff that the guests can interact with besides rides, food stands, restaurants, etc. such as midway games, walkthrough attractions, stuff that PC1 never did. RCT 1-3 has mini golf that the peeps actually play, will PC2 ever get that? Or would it be too hard to program now? RCT3 had a bunch of rides that weren't in either Planet game. They did do one of the most requested features last month, a kerb on/off toggle for paths. But new bugs seem to pop up with each new update. Like guests getting stuck, etc. And now they are silent again regarding future plans beyond update 6 like DLC's and stuff.

soooooo... we got volume sliders for speakers. finally after 9 months. however i just came to find out that we dont have these sliders for rides? another one to the huge list of halfbaked things :/

Why are they fulfilling some requests like kerbs off on paths, but ignoring other things? Especially things that were present in 1 but not in 2. And here we go into July with no roadmap of what's next. They are probably taking a break, but it would be nice to know what some of their plans are for at least the rest of the year, how many DLC's are coming out, etc. One feature from 1 that is not in 2 that I want to return is the ability for transport rides like the big steam train, land ahoy boat ride, etc. to be able to have one station for round trip rides. The mini railroad in 2 lets you have just one station but it can't have more than 1. The big steam train on the other hand in 2 requires you to have more than one station or you can't open the ride, only test it. Some real world parks have large train rides that only have one station. Only way around this right now would be to have two stations side by side and have collisions off to have the track overlap.
