Planet Coaster crashing immediately on startup.

So...Hi,

I hope there isn't already a thread about this kind of issue...

Well as said, Planet Coaster doesn't seem to run on my system, at least 99% of the time. The one time I got it to work it ran perfectly on Ultra settings.
Firstly it didn't work at all, but it worked after I turned off SLI. (read about that on the forums somewhere) I switched the settings from Low to Ultra and built a coaster, saved the park and closed the game properly.
The next time I tried to start it, it didn't work at all and still doesn't till now. Inbetween I didn't update or install anything.
Specifically:
- I press the play button in steam
- "prepearing to launch Planet Coaster" (window by steam) shows up for ~1 second
- nothing happens for ~5 seconds
- "Planet Coaster Crash reporter" opens

Things I already tried:
- Reinstall the game
- Reinstall GPU drivers
- Turned SLI on and off again
- Looked for Updates, everything is up to date
- Cleared the games Config folder

My current system is:
2 x Xeon E5 2670
ASRock EP2C602-4L/D16
64 GB DDR 3 RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 690
Windows 7 Pro

(It's a workstation not a gaming PC)

Well I have some assumptions:
- Planet coaster doesn't support multi socket systems.
- The game won't start with Ultra settings turned on for some reason when using a GTX 690. (maybe the graphic settings file isn't in the config folder?)

I really hope somebody can help me with this problem, even just telling me that my system won't run Planet Coaster at all would be helpful so I can get a refund on steam.
I hope that isn't the case as my first game was Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and I have been playing theme park games my entire life and was really looking forward to playing this one. :/

Have fun playing the game! (if you can)!

PS: sorry if there are any problems regarding spelling or grammar, I'm not a native english speaker.

I had the same problem as you and suspected that it was because of my dual CPU setup as well. It turned out it was and I'm surprised there isn't a warning about this because the solution is fairly simple:

- Press Start
- Type in Run
- Type in msconfig
- Go to the tab Boot
- Click Advanced options
- In this windows set the amount of processors you need to only use one CPU. In my case it's 22 cores because I have 44 cores total. This way windows will only use one CPU because the other cores will be turned off.
- Click oke and restart your pc

That's it, Planet Coaster should run now, in my case it does.

Have fun!
