Hey everyone! I'm Ed! The one who made John do all the talking last night.

I wanted to say thank you for watching... it really was such a great event, and it left smiles on all of our faces. You guys have been so receptive and really cool about everything we've shown so far - thanks for that. I can tell it's going to be a lot of fun being part of this community with you lot.

I'm now hard at putting week's livestream together (as well as lots of other things), so I hope to see you all again very soon! Lovely stuff.

version EN :

I hope the next will be steam's management planetcoaster :D ! and The Coaster Ride :)

version FR :

j’espère que le prochaine steam sera sur le management de PlanetCoaster & sur les montagne russe :)

Ladies and gentlemen, "Google Translation" at his best [big grin]

The stream was killing, thank so match and we see you next week.[up]
I am so impressed what Frontier puts in the game . [heart]

Thank you Ed, it was very enjoyable to watch, but from the long list of questions you had in your hand, I was the only person to get a mention with the first question you read out. I feel that others may have been a bit disappointed, because no other person was mentioned from your list. I realise that you wanted to show us as much as you could and this was great, because none of us was expecting so much footage of the game. Yes John did cover a lot of questions and I think on the whole, we were all blown away with what we saw. Looking forward to the next stream, which I take it will be next Wednesday, same time, same channel. [haha]
Enjoyed every second of the stream, thanks guys.
I was very happy when you got the first question, nice!
Re questions and answers.... well i felt like they had a bunch to say and show, and answering our questions was pretty much ignored. they kept rationalizing that they were (accidentally) answering questions, but no real effort went into answering burning questions that we've been crying out for on these forums for a month or more. like the dev diaries. they are awesome, but evasive re our ongoing concerns. i enjoy it all, but i don't expect to hear what i really want to hear.

Just to be clear: That did not alter the fun of the event. it was awesome.

I was hoping to see less walk throughs and more game play, but again, in 3 weeks i imagine youtube will be flooded with vids.

I have to agree. It was a lot of acting as though there was a lot to talk about, but really they just repeated the same thing over an over again. I get it. That lovely set piece is actually a bunch of carefully positioned smaller pieces. What about the hundred other questions that were asked?

Not to sound too whiny or anything. :) Can't wait for Planet Coaster!

You are absolutly right, and it's the reason why I, personally, do not react much about this event, because it was just a "marketing" event to attract new fans, and absolutly not a way to get answers to our questions. And we must not judge it as something else.

Maybe next time, they should present the thing as a normal livestream (and without the false "Question & Answer"). This seems less "fake".

Anyway, like you said : "That did not alter the fun of the event. it was awesome" [yesnod]

I did wonder why you were a little quiet.

Admitedly, there was a huge amount of questions! If the choice was given to see a heap of new footage or wade through a thousand questions individually within that hour... I think I would have picked the former every time! However, I felt they answered a great deal, and a lot more than I expected them too. At least they didn't go down the awkward route of naming each and every question provider... But, you and Coasterbuff were mentioned by name at least [happy]

You must admit, questions would have been impossible to answer via that live chat feed?

In hindsight, I should have realised it was a big part of their marketing strategy right from the beginning... Weekly, live streaming, on different aspects of the game, right at the build up to early bird? It's an obvious business strategy really. It probably paid off too, I believe that Elite:Dangerous had a similar marketing model... If it worked before, why not use it again?

edit: could be part of the reason why we have not been asked what questions we would like to ask Sam on this Wednesday's stream?

I'm totally agree.

I think the marketing model is very good.

I do not like certain things sometimes (for exemple when they play with words, changing the definition, as with "darkrides" when it's absolutly not a "darkride" but a "ride in the dark/in a tunnel" and "user generated content" when they talk about "modular building tool") because this is confusing, and a bit annoying. But on this particular aspect (the live), I dont have anything to say, they manage it like real pro, and it's nice to see. The artworks, the rendered videos, and the best : the visit in the first person view, with the comments in background. This was awesome.

The only advice I could give is : to speak more distinctly, because many foreigners following the livestream, and it's hard to understand sometimes when they talk fast.
(If I understood half of what they said in the live, it's a miracle lol)

My 2 cents.

edit: could be part of the reason why we have not been asked what questions we would like to ask Sam on this Wednesday's stream?
Well, it's better that way. They already have tons of things to talkg about. And we will be absolutely captivated by what they will show us as always so I really thing it's useless to ask people to ... ask questions. Anyway, they know they can not give the answers that true fans expect.

PS : And I suspect them to say "Ask us questions" to know what topics that interested us the most, to guide further events. But this is just a theory.

I wonder if it is not trully realised what a dark-ride is?

I say this because I must admit that I was not 100% sure when I first saw all the requests for it.. [Blush] I actually remember thinking "just play the game with the lights off?" Can you tell that I don't get out much? ;)

Anyway, I realise what they now.. Doh!

Hmmm ...

So, for those who read this thread and wondering "what is a dark ride ? " :

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_ride

"It's a Small World" is the most famous dark ride (not the best, but the most famous)

They are, for me, just the most fun rides to build in a theme park sim game (ex aequo with dark roller coasters, like "the Space Mountain") because of :
- The story you want to tell inside
- The building you need to create, with several rooms
- The number of themed scenery you need to use inside
- The animatronics
- The music and sounds effects
- The special effects like smoke or lights
- And the result : the fact that you can ride it at the first person view.
(many darkrides made with RCT3 are available on Youtube, and maybe, in a new game, it will be possible to visit someone else's park to test its "darkrides" in real time, who knows [rolleyes])

In fact, just like any "on road/track" rides (roller coasters, log flume, river rapids, transports rides like boats or train, go kart, etc...)

And it's the end of the off-topic [big grin]
