Planet Landing Mission: can not find planet!

My 1st planet Mission to Tiago, I got my buggy and head to the system but on the map it only displays the Sun and 2 outposts. I goto these and find 2 Unexplored planets: 1 is Gas Giant and 1 is a Ringed Gas Restraction. I have a Basic Discovery Scanner and it used to find all planets in the system upon entry right? The planets are all numbered and Tiago 2 is nowhere to be seen even after a full visual search flying around.
What has happened to the game? Has it become hell to search visually for planets now or are they now making us buy Advanced Discovery Scanners OR was the server jammed?
.
Not being able to complete Missions especially for Planet Landings is a huge disappointment. I am hoping it stays as fun and not game-killing after the much invested Life-Time Pass.

You need to have either 1. discovered the planet in the system with one of the discovery scanners or 2. simply purchase the exploration data from a near by system.

All the mission destinations are there. Get a discovery scanner and scan the system.

You can't see the planets if they are not available as system data.

If you have the funds, an advanced discovery scanner will show everything in a system regardless of distance.

Basic is 500ls, intermediate is 1000ls.

If you dont have a scanner, dont take missions to areas unknown to you. The nav beacon transmits space station grids, not all surface bases. So pick your missions better or get that ADS.

The basic discovery scanner has a range of only 500 LS (Sun to Earth distance) so there could be a lot of planets that won't be in the systems LH listing tab, try an Advanced scanner as it's infinite range will find all the astronomical bodies in the system.

As Cynaqq and Ceekay have said above, the basic scanner has a limited range. I'm afraid you will either have to upgrade your disco scanner, or do it old skool with mk1 eyeball!

I did the same as you on one of my first ground based missions, but could afford to purchase the ADS.

Good luck CMDR.

It's hasn't been like that before since I have played when all planets have shown up with the Basic upon entering.
So if I get the Advanced do I get rid of the Basic? I was fully under the impression that you still needed both and the Advanced simply gets you the surface data to sell. Has this method changed?

Advanced discovery scanner finds all planets/suns in a system- exactly what you need unless you want to buy data for the system each time
Detailed Surface Scanner- Increases payouts when you sell exploration data

LOL, I've only just realized why I always thought the Basic Scanner found all planets...because it always had shown me the Stations I could actually get to that it shown. Yet now it does not show me the Stations found on Planets. I actually do find that very odd. In fact extremely odd. You say here the Nav Beacon shows all the Space docks but can't show the Planet types. Weird but just another upgrade and I do hope I don't need both Basic and Advanced to hog slots.

Advanced is just an upgrade of the basic scanner. You dont need the detailed scanner for finding the planets/bases.
