Newcomer / Intro Planet locations.

In the system map I often see something like this...

LOCATIONS Human (21)
Other (1)

I'm seeing this now for the planet I am currently on. There are no settlements here so I know the Human part doesn't relate to them.
What exactly does the above mean, especially Other, and how would I find them.
Thanks.

Well like my post said, I am on a planet with no settlements so I'm not sure what the Human (21) is supposed to mean.
Even on planets with settlements I have seen the above sometimes, with the number being more than the amount of settlements there.
I assume it means that, as well as any settlements (if there are any), there are also 21 other human places to find.
Or is that wrong?
I also assume it has nothing to do with the procedurally generated things that you come across whilst in your SRV too.

21 is a lot. I bet if you look at the system map you'll find a bunch of carriers in orbit.
Did you actually look at the system map and zoom in, finding no surface installations?
The "other (1) is most likely a satellite or some research stn shown on the system map. You'll have to leave the surface to investigate the mystery closer.

Like I said, its counting things in Orbit, e.g. Fleet Carriers.
Yes, some things will do that such as satellites, research facilities that somehow don't appear on the map but small outposts will.
It's just a caveat built into the game. Things for you to investigate.

Two days ago I spied a gas giant 455x the size of earth. 5.3g
Fine tuning (waiting longer) during an FSS scan revealed 1 human presence. Map reveals nothing in orbit, it's impossible to have a human settlement on a gas giant, so it has to be a satellite or something. I went to the planet to do several things, DSS and and look for POI's.
Never did figure it out. Like I said, it's totally impossible to have a facility on the surface of a gas giant. There was nothing in orbit...... It dawned on me however that it just wasn't that important, so I left.

Could it have been a signal source? Degraded emissions maybe...

No, degraded emissions do not show up as being human. They definitely don't occur on planets or in the atmospheres.

Next time you FSS scan a planet you'll see when it's taking extra time to fine tune on surface features such as geological (vulcanism), biological, ancient sites.... It doesn't include HGE, Degraded, encoded signals. Those don't occur on planet surfaces. Your DS scanner will automatically pick up signals close to your ship and certain things on the planets surface if you're close enough..... But for signals further away your FSS scan will initially tell you how many there are. You have to locate & tune in to each one to identify em.
Some signals will show up in the hud on the canopy. Just lock onto those and identification is automatic. None will show up as being human. Not even satellites.
A human signal (in my experience so far) has always indicated a human presence. Abandoned settlements, wrecks, ancient ruins show up in the navigation panel when your close enough, under "points of interest".

I first thought that too until I saw that difference planets in the same system had there own Human details.

My bet is they've applied a Nav Filter to remove FC and forgotten ;)

No I don't have anything filtered out.

I have gone back to a few of the systems I have seen this in and taken screenshots.
OK first this one. It's full of FC's and other stuff, but some planets (even non-landable ones) are indicating a Human presence.
01.jpg

This non-landable moon shows a Human presence and there is nothing in orbit around it, no mega ships and no POI's.
02.jpg

The same with this nearby ringed planet, showing 3 Human locations.
03.jpg

Now this one makes sense, if the 1 Human location is the FC in orbit.
04 carrier.jpg

Then there is this system with no FC's, bases, settlements, etc...
05.jpg

This moon has 2 Human locations. Again there are no bases, settlements, POI's, etc...
06.jpg

This is why in my OP I thought that maybe they were planetary areas of interest which were not actual settlements.

Scylla D 11 B - you can't work out what the Human(1) means:

Scylla D 12 - Human(4) - what could they be????

I mean, jeez - you're right - that makes no sense at all! :ROFLMAO:

Ok so, without the attitude, how do you explain the other systems plus all the others I have come across?
