Planet Scan Mini-Game

Scan mechanics have been asked for a bazillion times, and were even some kinda plan at some point.

So because I think the new planetary map is a great spot to put the game, and because makin' up games is fun :), I tried to make up a balanced mini-game:

Not 100% sure it would be any fun but there it is. If the game generated the points off the planets well, it could kinda make every planet like a little puzzle, maybe, sorta.
 
In the interdiction minigame, we are following the circle and that represents our escape. This seems a little... random. Scan point 'ammo'? I find it a little left of center.
I also think that bringing up a screen for it is just a bad idea.

I'd rather see something a little simpler, maybe something not unlike fuel scooping, where we have to maintain a specific distance from the planet (following its curve). The faster we are flying while doing this and the closer to the specific distance we maintain, the faster we fill the scan bar.

I think it just aligns more with the concept of scanning than shooting the planet with your scan bullets and picking up metalic scan ammo.
 
I was thinking that the detailed surface scanner allows you to fill in the map ala the mapping mods from Kerbal.
I have no idea if that would be interesting after the first time you do it or if ED's networking/database allows that kind of detail.

Are you meaning to make scanning planet surface very long and tedious ?

Because if it's the case i don't think explorer will like that really much... It'll consume most of their time.
