Planet surface/scanning question

Hello

I have a couple of question:
1) I tried to scan all the data points at a settlement. The first time round I ran out of time. When I tried again (and succeeded), the datapoint said "datapoint compromised" or something along that line? My question is, would I have got better data had I succeeded the first time round?
2) I found a crashed satellite. It had a red trespass zone and a sentry skimmer. The skimmer had a "wanted" status, so I shot it down - and promptly got a bounty. Isn't it a bit strange to get a bounty for shooting down something that has a wanted status?
3) Would that skimmer have attacked me on scanning the satellite?
4) Finally - when I scanned the satellite's datapoint, I received a message saying "intel package received" or something similar. But no data showed up? Did I get anything at all?

Many thanks!!

P.s. Forget #2 - I just realised I earned the bounty!! Sorry!

I can answer #3 & #4

I believe the skimmer would attack you if you linger too long in the trespass zone, and not the scanning of the data point

I say this because there are some POI's that have several canisters to pick up, and a trespass zone.. you can speed through the zone and nudge the canisters outside, and then pick them up at your leisure

Once you have an "Intel Package" you need to take it to a station where you can sell it to a contact (or hand it in? I'm not sure here), you can see them in your transactions tab (left panel.. second tab)

You can scan a satellite if you stay outside the red square, just get in close enough to scan it, the skimmer won't bother with you. The data you get will be listed under your transaction tab, either fed or empire Intel, usually not worth a lot unless you find a bunch, just sell it at an empire or fed aligned system. The little satellites usually give you rare data sometimes like Cracked Industrial firmware. The security rating of a settlement determines the type of data that drops from a successful scan of all data points, the higher the security, the more rare the data. But be ready to run real quick if the timer runs down or you scan the wrong thing.
