Planet view Map should show location of your ship

So I was sent to jail after being severely injured at a settlement where I had my ship parked. On booking the Apex taxi to return I noticed that the location of your ship is only marked at the planet level and the actual base/settlement where it is parked:

In Horizons it used to place the ship marker wherever it was on the planet, I am sure it still does, I will have to test this out in case they have changed it!

No it still works, I took a couple of screenies on an Odyssey planet to test, are you sure your ship wasn't in orbit?

I landed here first;

Then took off and flew almost directly north, you can see position has been update correctly. In my experience in Horizons the marker will also move with your ship as you are moving across the surface, I don't think they have changed that, but your circumstances may have dictated a different response from the map;

Hi my ship was landed on the pad at the settlement "Ferraros Works" where my cursor is in the second screen shot, but there is no indication on the map that my ship is parked there. If you click on my ship in the System Map "My Ships" menu it just takes me to the planet itself, which is not a valid Apex destination.

As I said your ship is in a different situation, if you are landed at a pad there's a map marker that shows it's system and station/planet location, was your ship docked on the docking port when you arrived? Maybe your ship is in orbit. Markers that show ships appear for normal operation when you are there, that's clear from the images, how it works for other situations i don't know.

When you're far from ship for 2 kilometers and more - it will fly to virtual orbit. I see no point in ship marker on planet map.
And see no point in this suggestion.

Hey there, your ship will be in orbit around that planet when you are far enough away, thus no need for a marker.

Fair enough. But when I arrived at the settlement in the taxi, I noticed my ship was actually there, I didnt need to "recall it" so still think a label on the settlement would make sense even if its just for the story-telling.
