Heyo Zookeepers!
Now that April is winding down and it's gonna be May very soon, we're back with another Monthly Catch Up so you can make sure you are up-to-date on all the latest comings and goings in Planet Zoo. Here's what you may have missed in April.
News:
What the..!? Someone changed the colours of all our animals and made them look like yummy sweets! How deliciously odd... This was no April Fools, but a legitimate cheat you can use in Planet Zoo to really freshen up your animals' colours. Name any habitat animal "DaveyT" to activate the cheat, and "DaveyT#FFFFFF", where FFFFFF is a hex code colour, and your animals will be instantly re-coloured. To deactivate the cheat, simply box up your animal and they will be returned to normal. And don't worry, you can use this cheat any time you want, not just on April Fools!
Hot off the heels of the release of the Southeast Asia Animal Pack, the Planet Zoo team has been hard at work fixing critical bugs and issues that's been reported by the community. Updates 1.5.1 and 1.5.2 was released in early April and we appreciate all the reports and emails we've been getting about critical issues. We are still looking into bugs and issues you've been reporting, so keep the reports rolling in to our Issue Tracker.
In April we asked you to create and send us fantastic looking postcards from your in-game zoos in the Picturesque Postcard. Once we've picked a winner we will showcase some of the best postcards on our forums. The entries we've got so far have looked incredible, and we can't wait to show them to you.
Finally, 22 April was Earth Day, and this year's theme was "Restore Our Earth". We hope you took the time to educate yourself about environmental issues and climate change, as this is something that affects all life on Earth.
Community Creations:
We got to see some truly amazing community creations in April, and here are some of our favourites:
First up is leafscott80's Willow park Zoological Gardens, a zoo featuring all the Habitat Animals in Planet Zoo up to the Aquatic Pack. We absolutely loved the sheer size and scope of the project and thought the layout of the zoo was excellent.
Nine Gems' The Lost Temple is a beautiful looking habitat with an ancient temple theme, plus inside and outside viewing areas for guests. A perfect habitat for any zoo!
We really wish Istavir Valley is a real place, because it just looks so nice and peaceful! Flabellifera has made an enchanting looking nature habitat and even a small town to go with it, but that's just stage one! We can't wait to see what else they've got planned.
Liv's Moon and Sun Build is sure to bring a unique flair to your zoos. This blueprint can be used as a viewing platform or restaurant area and will surely be a major attraction for your guests.
Creator Spotlight:
The lovely and talented DeLadysigner takes you on a walkthrough through her City Zoo Greenhouse. It features some lovely closeups of several animals introduced in the Southeast Asia Animal Pack and is well worth a watch.

Finally, let's round off the month with all the Zoopedia facts we shared in April:
- Clouded Leopards have canines that are 5cm long – the same length as a tiger, despite the tiger being 5 times bigger in size!
- The sun bear's tongue is 20-25cm long; It uses its tongue to extract insects and honey.
- The large nose of the male proboscis monkey allows it to make louder vocalisations, which in turn increases the likelihood of attracting females.
- The male babirusas tusks continue to grow throughout his life and can even grow into the skull!
