Hayo Zookeepers, and welcome to the Planet Zoo March Catch Up!

Let's get the serious out of the way first. We hope you are all taking extra care at this time and ensuring you look after yourselves during the COVID-19 pandemic. We've released a statement to let you know that Frontier is now fully working from home:

Due to this, all of our streams are on hold until further notice. However, fret not! We are still active on social media channels, Discords and, of course, the forums, so we'll still be around to chat with you, hear your feedback, and gasp at your amazing creations. Stay tuned to our forums for what we will be doing instead of streams during this time too, we're working on it and should have more information for you on that front soon!

Now that's done, let's talk about Update 1.2! This free update will be coming to Planet Zoo on 7 April and includes a whole range of requested features that we think will really get you excited. We're introducing Genealogy; new difficulty settings; changes to animals feeding; a Guest Education Management tab and more, including new glass pieces! We're thrilled to be bringing this update to you, and we believe it'll be a real game-changer, especially for those who want to cater the game more to their playstyle, which you will be able to do with the new difficulty settings. To read more about free Update 1.2, you can check out this forum post here.

We'd also like to take this time to share that Planet Zoo has been nominated for the 'British Game' BAFTA! An incredible honour, and the team are thrilled to have been nominated. We will soon hear the results, as the winners will be announced 2 April, but we'd like to congratulate all our fellow nominees. We feel blown away to have been included in the nominees, especially with all the amazing talent beside us. We're looking forward to hearing who the winner is - not long to wait now!

This March, we celebrated two special days: World Wildlife Day and World Frog Day! These two days, like many others, are close to the heart of Planet Zoo. World Wildlife Day took place on 3 March and the theme this year was "Sustaining all life on Earth", a message that Planet Zoo definitely agrees with. Wild animal and plant life is imperative to the world's biological diversity. World Frog Day was on 20 March! Did you know people who study frogs are called Herpetologists? World Frog Day was created to raise awareness to help save Frogs from extinction and to give them a safe environment to thrive. So much we can learn from these special days, so we will be sure to continue raising awareness for them!

Like we do in every Catch Up, we will be finishing off with the Zoopedia Facts from the month to make sure you are up-to-date on your animal knowledge!
  • Hippos can open their mouths to 150°, this is called a ‘hippo yawn’ and is usually an aggression display.
  • Contrary to popular belief, Ostriches do not bury their heads in the sand. To hide from predators, they lie flat against the ground and their body blends with the horizon and the dust.
  • Frogs have been around for 250 million years; they precede dinosaurs!
We're looking forward to our April Catch Up already! We promise, it'll be a great month for Planet Zoo!
