A few years ago SOE began work on an EQ3. They opted to spin off some of their world building tools to a stand alone game called Landmark.
Landmark was amazing. It was a voxel based game where the creativity seemed endless esp after some people got their hands on it and pushed the boundaries well past what even the devs thought possible. They went all in and tried to flesh it out and we ate it all up. I could have stayed in that game forever. Alas, forever turned out to be like two years or less? I've forgotten. Voxels are very taxing on the PC, on their severs. Besides that, mistakes were made (IMO) in development that doomed the game beyond repair and it was shut down. I was heartbroken. I haven't found a game to spark my creative side (which is middling at best) since. Until now. Although not voxels and more limited in options (lava, gold, rubies, particle effects, etc), I'm having a blast. To heck with zoo management, I'm just having fun building. Thanks for making a game I can sink my teeth into. And as another thank you, I'm off to buy the deluxe and arctic pack
