Hayo Zookeepers!
November is over already, how did that happen? We've shared some exciting things this month, so what better way to highlight them than in another Monthly Catch Up?
News:
This month, we celebrated 2 years of Planet Zoo! Naturally, we celebrated in style: we introduced you to a new furry friend for you to incorporate into your zoos, the Black and White Ruffed Lemur, and a brand new shop, Bernie's Bakes. We also offered up some time-sensitive events, including a special Community Challenge, and special Wippi Abbonibo balloons for your guests!
If you missed the Anniversary Livestream, not to worry! You can catch up, below:
The anniversary celebrations were also accompanied by free Update 1.7.2, which alongside the new additions, also featured various bug fixes and updates. You can read all about everything included in the update in the dedicated forum post.
We also served up some totally fresh Planet Zoo news, this month: you'll be able to open restaurants at your zoos in a coming update! You'll be able to place new restaurant facility down, and link up to 20 tables to create a functional venue! You can read more about this exciting new addition, including seating, colour, and size options, in the dedicated forum post.
Nominations for the Steam Awards also opened in November, and we'd very much appreciate it if you'd consider nominating Planet Zoo for the Steam Awards Labour of Love category, in celebration of the ongoing care and support that our developers continuously pour into the Planet Zoo community! You can nominate us directly from our Steam page, here, and can read a little more about why we'd love to be your choice on our dedicated forum post.
Community Creations:
There were lots of incredible creations from our community, this month, as always - here are some of our favourites, in case you missed them!
We were absolutely stunned by this Arabic Starter Zoo by Syrrael, this month; it's home to four habitats, lots of food and drinks shops, and a custom entrance that allows your guests to enter the zoo in a horse-drawn carriage!
This Abandoned Old Silver Mine by Bobson would make for some incredible thematic scenery for your zoo - and can even be adapted into a habitat!
Now your guests can experience pure tranquility, thanks to Rivendell by Surviver; what more could they ask for?
This month's amazing #PlanZoPride build was Pride Openly Gator by rahoor, an American Alligator habitat filled with rainbow decor - we love how vibrant it is, especially at night!
Finally, it's time to round off the month with all the Zoopedia facts we shared:

Finally, it's time to round off the month with all the Zoopedia facts we shared:
- Did you know that Moose have no upper front teeth but very sharp lower front teeth?
- As opposed to ‘true seals’, California Sea Lions and other Eared Seals are adapted for movement on land and in the water. The bone structure in their limbs allows them to utilize front and hind flippers for walking.
- American Bullfrogs are a generalist predator that has been known to capture and eat bats, birds, and tarantulas.
- Arctic Foxes paw pads are completely covered in fur, giving them their Latin species name ‘lagopus’, meaning ‘rabbit foot’.
