G'day Zookeepers!
It's time, once again, for the Monthly Catch Up! September was a busy month for Planet Zoo, so let's take a look back at what happened.
We released two new updates for Planet Zoo during September, containing multiple fixes and updates to the game: Updates 1.3.2 and 1.3.3. If you haven't already, make sure your game is updated to the latest version! We also want to say thank you to everyone who reached out and submitted reports via our Issue Tracker. You help us make Planet Zoo the best it can be!
In case you missed it, in September we also released a tribute to Zoos Victoria's Keeper Adam, who enthralled us back in March with his fantastic dance moves. Rename your Keepers to "keeperadam" to have them do a dance when they find some free time between tasks. You can see a preview of the dance by following this link.
We were delighted to have architect Robyn Badger join us live on stream to talk about habitat architecture in zoos. This stream was in collaboration with San Diego Zoo and is a must see for the Zookeepers out there who love building habitats. You can watch an archived version of this stream on the Planet Zoo YouTube Channel.
Finally, you have just a few days left to join in on the (Re)Fresh Start Competition! We're looking for habitats that re-purpose building and scenery pieces, and aim to be as environmentally friendly as possible, all while still providing the animals with a safe place to live and enough food and enrichment to keep them thriving. All entries must be submitted by Friday, 2 October 2020, so there's not much time left! The winner will receive a Planet Zoo goodie bag with lots of cool prizes.
In addition to celebrating environmentalism and recycling, we've also celebrated a couple of animal days in September. On 19 September we celebrated International Red Panda Day, and 22 September was World Rhino Day. Days such as these are important for the Animal Kingdom, since they help raise awareness of struggles that animals are facing in the wild. We hope you took the time to learn what you can do to help these animals thrive.
As always, let's finish this Catch Up with the Zoopedia Facts we learnt this month:

As always, let's finish this Catch Up with the Zoopedia Facts we learnt this month:
- Female Kangaroos can store a fertilised egg and delay getting pregnant until their previous joey has left the pouch; this is called ‘embryonic diapause’.
- The Dingo is thought to have been introduced into Australia by seafarers 4000 years ago. It is hypothesized that it originated from a dog like the New Guinea singing dog.
- Snakes are the main predators of the White-Faced Capuchin; Monkeys have been known to attack snakes with sticks to save an infant Capuchin.
- When threatened, The Eastern Blue Tongued lizard will puff itself up, hiss and stick out its colourful tongue to intimidate predators
