Hayo Zookeepers!

September has officially come to an end, and you know what that means - it's time for another Monthly Catch Up! September was a busy month, so we've got lots to share.

News:

We announced two very exciting things, this month: Update 1.7, and the new North America Animal Pack, both of which are arriving 4 October!
Update 1.7 features lots of new additions, including custom heightmaps, swimming cats, a scenery placement randomisation toggle, and animal talk seating areas! You can read all about the features you'll be able to look forward to in this free update on the dedicated forum post.

As some of you might have guessed from our fun community livestream this month, we had something else to announce alongside Update 1.7: the North America Animal Pack! You'll get to meet 7 mesmerising habitat animals with this new Pack: the industrious American Beaver, the towering and majestic Moose, the sleek and smart California Sea Lion, the shy and solitary Cougar, the enormous American Alligator, the highly-sociable Black-tailed Prairie Dog and the elusive yet adorable Arctic Fox! You'll also get your hands on new enrichment items to help you care for these new animals, and a brand new Timed Scenario, too! You can read more about the Planet Zoo: North America Animal Pack here.

Naturally, with so many new animals featured in the Planet Zoo: North America Animal Pack, bringing their sounds to life takes lots of time and research! If you'd like to find out more about exactly what the sound design process looks like for new Packs, take a look at the Planet Zoo: North America Animal Pack Developer Journal, here, which features Benjamin Scholey, the Lead Sound Designer on the North America Animal Pack, sharing some of the processes behind creating the sounds included in the Pack!

Community Creations:

As always, there were lots of incredible creations from our community, this month - here are some of our favourites, in case you missed them!

This month's incredible #PlanZoPride creation was this Flamingo Pride walk through habitat by Odicus - it looks great at night, too, so go check it out!

Finally, it's time to round off the month with all the Zoopedia facts we shared:

  • The calls of the female Moose during mating season can be heard 3.2km away. At the border, you could even hear a Moose from Maine in Québec or vice versa!
  • American alligators are integral to their environment because they create ‘alligator holes’ – small ponds that retain water through the dry season & provide habitats for multiple species.
  • Ohio's State Frog is the American Bullfrog, which was named because the mating call of the male sounds like a bull’s bellow.
  • Although not an endangered species, the range of Black-Tailed Prairie Dogs is now 5% of what it was due to humans encroaching upon their habitat.
  • Cougars are Colorado's biggest feline - they have large paws and the largest hind legs of any felid species, relative to body size!
  • California Sea Lions are the fastest species of seal. They can swim at speeds of up to 25mph!

Thanks for the round-up!

By the way, am I the only one that cannot see the atatched screenshots? I had these issues on the forum for a few days, but unsure if it is just me. I just see the name of the jpeg file but not the screenshot itself.

This could be a cookie issue, it happened to me with Youtube embeds before! Clear your cookies for the website and then ensure you select all cookies when given the prompt again, and this should hopefully fix it for you

But I suppose the problem is on my end. No idea what I am doing wrong, haha. Will try to read more to it.

I've the same problem, just deleted all my cookies and accepted the ones for the forum and the issue persists, but in other threads i can see the pictures without any problems.
