I wouldn't say that there's a lot of potential that's wasted. Frontier is always adding a lot of cool things, some that nobody would've thought of.
Plus, this is Frontier's best selling game, according to statistics, even better than Jurassic World Evolution 2.
I honestly don't know if a multiplayer mode is really possible with the way the game is. I think a better alternative is a co-op mode where you build a zoo and can trade animals with your Steam friends

No, its not. I wonder why people think so.
Yeah it's most likely jwe2 is the best selling considering the rather short life it has been out. Possibly the social media attention and dedicated playerbase makes one think planet zoo is the most profitable rather than the small playerbase of jwe2 or simply forgetting elite dangerous still exists
Well, PZ is just after JWE2 I believe. 2nd place aint bad.
People really just underestimated console version of JWE2, when frontier year ago said PC port is doing bad.

You can build and pass the park on to others. This is what many people do.
