Planetary Exploration

I got a little bored of Elite, which is a huge shame because I genuinely love the game. I think it just lacks depth with regards to planetary exploration. I'd love to think that if I travel 15,000ly out from the bubble and explore planets, that I may discover something amazing. But I lost that hope. And its a huge shame.

Anyway, I started playing an Xbox one preview game, Subnautica. Despite its early development stage and flaws, its a fantastic game. Its how I hope elite grows into. Being able to explore planets such as water worlds, and research tech in order to help you explore further.

Could the ED devs learn something from these guys? Or potentially work together to create a more exciting focus on exploration and discovery in ED?

I have Subnautica on Xbox and a crafting/base-building/survival element is something a few people have been hoping to see in Elite for a very long time, but I'm not one of them.
Personally I like racing games, and I'd love to see two-wheeled 600cc SRVs with space tracks to race them on. I won't get my wish though, as they're Just Not Elite.
Neither is base building, imo.

Subnautica is fantastic, but the game world is handcrafted and tiny tiny tiny compared to Elite Dangerous, so any hopes of that kind of lovely details will be disappointed.

As i don't own any console i'm not familiar with what exactly "preview title" refers to.
But Subnautica as such is not in an early development stage, it's a fully released title on PC, with an arctic themed DLC in the works.
And yes, it's a really nice game.

Misleading title, with the new exploration tools on the way (Tuesday) which enables the the very feature you longed for, not sure you timed your post very well?
