Planetary Landing Issue?

I recently bought a Dolphin to do passenger mission for a bit of $$, and since it was a new ship, it was my first ship that came with Supercruise and Landing Assistance standard. I kept them both to see how they worked, and for a laugh. On my last passenger mission, I was supposed to transport a lady to a planetary station. Started the mission, popped into the system, targeted the base and let the SC assist take over to place me in orbit. However, once I arrived at the planet, the destination was directly beneath me no matter the angle I approached. Approach on the dark side, target would be directly below me. Approach from the light side, target would be directly below me. As a result, my approach angle would be too steep and glide would be aborted some crazy distance from my target (I mean like x Mm away). Am I missing something?

Not close enough to separate the POI's out into different locations yet? Either that or a bug.

Oh yes even if you do end up mega meters away it's easy enough to cruise around the planet to get to the station, you can enter supercruise and change your angle of ascent to as low as 7 degrees and move along at a fair clip.

I'm new to supercruise & landing assist, but I'm no stranger to planetary landings, and this felt like a bug. Seriously, I re-entered orbit a few times trying to put more distance between me and the LZ, but it (the target label) still remained directly below me. I think it has something to do with supercruise assist putting me in orbit. Either I'm missing something, or it bugged on me. In retrospect, I shoulda just re-targeted the destination and see if that made any difference. Oh well...

Well using SCA putting you in orbit means you have the planet targeted, not the settlement you were going to land at. Of course it's will always point you towards the center of the planet so it will always appear to be directly below you. I had assumed after reaching the planet using SCA you then targeted the base or settlement you were going to. So yes, of course once arriving at the planet you must target your destination!
