You might consider adding a few screenshots, or maybe linking a video, of what happens when you try to land on a planet.

If you bought horizons, make sure u select it in launcher and steam settings. By default it points to base game and runs without landing.

Ahha, OK. Its just the base game. Thanks for your help. Silly me thinking I can land my space ship...ever in a space sim without buying a 5 yr old DLC. LOL

Wherever you bought it from you will have seen the DLC listed next to / beneath it. Lots of games have DLC which provides activities that are not available in the base game, Elite is not unique in that. There is another major DLC expansion due next year and you will need Horizons to access that.

(Still 20 hours to run on the Humble Bundle offer. )
