Planetary rings

This week someone posted screenshots on reddit where a gas giant had rings with an outer radius of 26 million kilometers, almost as much as the current record.
The thing is, that the outer most ring was actually rendered and visible. It's the first time I have seen this. But I've others reporting this as well. How come whenever I
find planets and gas giants with an outer ring radius of a few million kilometer, that only the 2 smaller inner rings get displayed but the outer ring is never visible in the game?
Is it random if they render or not? I play the game on max settings.

Edit: Just found a 22 million Km metallic ring around a brown dwarf and it was fully rendered. Maybe it doesn't get rendered when it's an icy outer ring or a 3rd ring in general.

Check the ring mass as well. if it's a large ring but very low mass it may not show up, but if it's a large ring with very high mass it should show more clearly. Logic would suggest it should be connected to the amount of material in the ring, mass to low and the individual rocks of the ring won't be concentrated enough to show.
