I'm relatively new to the game (100 or so hours logged in Steam) and I've been pootling about doing some trading and exploring (very little fighting - not an area I find particularly interesting). One of the QoL improvements I'd like to see would be planetary survey drones.
At the moment, I have a T-6 kitted out for exploration with detailed surface scanner etc, but I'm having difficulty finding POIs on planetary surfaces. One way I think the current mechanism could be improved would be if we were able to mount a planetary survey drone launcher on one of our ship's utility mounts, and craft drones which we could send out to survey planets of interest and mark the planet's surface with waypoints. The drones would be restocked in the same way heat sinks are.
Don't get me wrong, I do mostly enjoy skimming over a planet's surface looking for POIs with the ship's radar set to the widest angle possible, but once in a while, I'd just like to be able to fire off a drone which whizzed round the planet and reported back to me areas of potential interest.
