Planets...Help Please...!

Dear Frontier Devs,
As an Elite with over 8400 hours of play time may I please take one post to plead for help. Let me explain.

The new planet design with solid outposts for the stupid FPS aspect needs some serious help. Now, Horizons used a seeding system using Red Circle Detection. Now that was a perfect system for us planet skimmers that loved exploring. Now, Odyssey is using this new "Heat Map System" that truly sucks and is a complete failed aspect of the games content.
Sorry but it's a 12 year olds idea, IMO of course, and a rather stupid concept and an explorers disappointment.

May I suggest dumping this new Heat Map System idea and just get rid of it. Now Horizons Red Circle Detection System was a FAR better concept. Both of these systems, I believe, are on a seeding system for planets so the coding is still there but using the Horizons planet detection system rather than Odysseys system would narrow down the searching area to a reasonable area rather than the entire planet.
I only suggest this because 90% of the time I scan the planet for Geo and/or Bio findings the selections are identical and cover the exact same area or entire planet. Using the old Horizons system would encourage plant visiting on an explorers point of view and giving the SRV a purpose again.

Just something that I would seriously think would make Odysseys content a bit more exciting and meaningful.
Think about it please.

Yes, that's why it sometimes took days to find stuff on planet surfaces. People complained endlessly about not being able to find volcanic sites, then they put in POI's which were just a stopgap and finally a proper heatmap, that was then nerfed to a "location" map because apparantly some players found the heatmap confusing. As a player who sometimes spent days cruising across planets is SC and regular space looking for volcanic and bio sites so we could record the location and post them for other players, that's a big NO from me!

I wouldn't say just a stop and go as only vets are quite good at this, as I found Horizons system to be easier when I finally got the hang of it. But, when you come across a planet that has 3 geo types and 90% of the planet is highlighted for all three types, wouldn't you think flying at 300 meters at 15Mps a bit extreme when it comes to the entire planet?

At least with Horizons system 2,000+ meters up and at full speed can get you within (educated guess) maybe 10,000 square meters to 100,000 square Kilometers to search. Even that can be a bit tricky with the new terrain work with Odyssey.

I tried for 3 hours pulling S patterns at a spread of 1,000 meters doing the 200 meters up at 15Mps at the largest highlighted area on several planets and didn't find anything (given I had to guess on highlight areas because you loose it after dropping into normal flight) but still, 90% of the planet is pretty hard to miss. Not to mention the identical heat maps for all types. The majority of selecting the type is quite pointless as well because of this identical problem.

Horizons system would at least get you something to hunt for several hours. I would figure that would be better than giving up on every planet that heats half of the planet or more. I know there aren't very many explorers out there but finding 1 or 2 types to turn in in a day is kind of a buzz kill in comparison to missions of Odysseys content. It really wouldn't nerf any part of Odyssey, just make it a bit less boring for planet explorers.

Sorry, just caught that....
First: You can't pinpoint a spot to see those things from SC, you can only see the heat map AFTER a DSS.
Second: The spots are seeded so you can't give coords for someone else, unless you're in a wing and YOU are there.
Third: Are we even talking about the same thing here?

Don't tell me how to suck eggs thanks! In the OLD days you could see the blue circles for volcanic and bio sites from SC, which is what I stated!

The locations for volcanic and BIO sites were always in the same location for all players. The current location maps show bio and geo areas, they aren't as good as the proper heatmap in the alpha, but they are far better than noting at all which is what I was talking about, and more realistic than having a few scattered big yellow POI's for the bio and geo on an entire planet.

I have found no issues finding bio and geo with current location map, a proper heatmap would be nice, but the current one works fine if you know what you are looking for. The bio and geo is scattered all through the blue areas, in some areas it's sparsley scattered and in some areas it's quite thick, but it's always there!
