Newcomer / Intro Planets scanned using the DSS

If I scan a planet with the DSS (looking for those elusive Irregular Markers hoping to find Settlement Defence Plans.... ),does the planet 'stay scanned' in the sense that any Irregular Markers revealed by the scan will stay revealed...?

The signals are not permanent so they will only be revealed as long as they are there. The planet will stay 'scanned' and reveal any new signals, as long as the record of it being scanned by you exists. This only lasts until you die or sell the data.

So you have to scan again to get more markers? Or are they gone forever?

As long as the record of you having scanned the planet exists (you haven't died or you've sold the data) any new signals are automatically revealed. Old signals that expire are gone forever, they might get replaced by an identical signal a few Mm away though. Signals are regenerated over time.
