Planets too bright?

Anybody else have the issue in VR where the darkside of planets look dark as you approach, but then suddenly start flicking through brighter stages of brightness as you get closer.
Looks fine on my monitor, nice and dark, perfect atmosphere. But in the HMD it's noticeably brighter.
I can drive around without headlights on. But on the screen can't see two feet in front.

Anybody?

It was actually a feature that calculates lighting conditions using the skybox, but received a lot of negativity. It could not be changed due to technical limitations so far, but Frontier is aware of this. I really hope to see something different, when the new lighting system is introduced in Q4.

I submitted a bug report back when the dark side of planets became really dark, except for VR users.

I found that the only way to get the same dark sides as flatscreen ED was to turn shadows off.

This has been highlight many times to Fdev. In fact when 3.0 was released we thought it was fixed. Planets had dark side, turns out it was a big then it got fixed.

When the new lighting engine comes which I think is q4 this year it should change, I hope

If you lower gammer setting a little, that helps now

I've added a link to my bug report, though "they are aware of the issue and are looking into it" and I suspect we'll have to wait for the upcoming lighting changes to see if we won't be able to see :)

I've just checked, setting Shadows to Off still causes night to drop like a curtain.

I don't want a pitch black dark side.

I like the auto-adjust choice Frontier made.
