Planets with atmospheres and diverse biomes

Well since the release of odyssey (2021) I have not heard anything about being able to land on planets with atmospheres and that there are more biomes than just arid planets or planets with a little ice, currently being able to get off the ship is just an "extra" and for the price that has the DLC is practically empty only allows you to get off the ships and also have pvp & pvE combat, but let's be honest who does not want to odyssey can land on planets with atmospheres, and see some difference when you land because practically 99. 9% of all planets are procedurally generated but they are practically all the same so what do you know about having new planets and a more decent diversity?
They can't even get crew to appear in the cockpit, I think trees are well beyond FD's capabilities.
I reckon ED is pretty much finished in terms of additional features, so if you want something better then you'll have to look elsewhere.

Tbh, with a sample space of 1, anything's possible. It's gonna be pretty funny if we finally get out there and everything does look the same.

I really doubt that, but the fun part of cosmology in general is your fantasy guess is as equally valid as mine. Elite was good for that stuff at one point, elite had simulated planets in the majority of systems long before popular science started creating a fact out of it.

Complex life not so much, using the most appropriate science fiction is my preferred choice there.

Now that its turned into a mass effect clone in style.. something else im happy to leave aside.

In that case no one could leave Frontier, [...]

Superficially that looks ideal for ED however it's well beyond me - I've no idea about or interest in software development!
:ROFLMAO: It's beyond me too. I had a dabble with 3D stuff on my Amiga 1200 in ancient times, and I know loads of plugins exist for all kinds of stuff. Wouldn't have the foggiest idea how to make one though or whether or not they all work with the Cobra engine.

What about plugins that do most of the work like Speedtree? https://store.speedtree.com/ They claim that it works with custom engines.
I expect there are all sort of expensive licencing costs involved. Individually they're cheaper than real trees I suppose ..

.. but I suspect Frontier would rather do their own trees than be tied in to a 3rd party developer like that.

Now that you mention it, I can't off the top of my head recall seeing that in quite some time. I really appreciated that aspect of the scatter object system. :/
Never been anything like the realism of the alpha since. I assumed when EDO was released it was a little like the organics, in the alpha they were oversaturated for testing reasons and then more sparse on release, but the rock scattering just doesn't seem to be anything like the alpha. Same with fogging and atmosphere but the further we get from the alpha the more I think maybe I'm just misremembering.

Makes me slightly sad.

Had it been up to me (...which I am sure many are relieved to know, it is not...), a next expansion would not unlock any new body type, anyway, but add (...or: "improve", if you count the current state) zero-g avatar traversal and gameplay. Question is, if budgeting is aggressively scaled to match recent performance, how small a range of locations you could get away with adapting/adding for the purpose, and still get customers to think the expansion worth buying...

When Odyssey alpha first dropped (and iirc, before we were officially given access to the SRV) I used the SRV training scenario to go for a little drive. Although I have seen patches of scatter rocks of similar density more recently (e.g. as seen here) I think you're right that, a bit like the high concentrations of organics that we saw, it was subsequently toned down a bit.

Guys.

Jurassic Park: Evolution 2 includes really quite a lot of trees.

Frontier developed that. With Frontier's engine. So you don't really need to sit around what-iffing this one.

And we’ve been saying things like that since the inception of Planet Coaster.

And yet here we are! ;)

Indeed, but leaving ship in the middle of the crapstorm will always raise an eyebrow
I guess you have not had an employer in the past then?
Dr Ross was leaving over a year before she did - I hope you never left a post just because you had a better option and your employer was receiving flak for not being perfect in every way!
