Fading fast, folks. Too draining to run here and ask for help on everything I try to do. There isn't a "learning curve" on this sim--there's a "knowledge barrier."
Long-winded, sarcastic rant follows. Turn back while you still can.
Arrived at deciat 6a--home of felicity farseer. Performed a DSS and was informed that scan was successful. I know this is true because the scan encased the planet in an ultra-annoying blue orb. I'll search the net later for the procedure, equipment, training, material components, key binds and module build that removes that orb but...I digress. Entered orbit and began visual scan for farseer inc. Was rewarded with a dotted circle that said "farseer." Knew this meant it was on the far side of the planet but it was rising towards the horizon. I maneuvered to get lined up. As it crested the horizon the circle turned solid. Oh, Joy! Here it comes! Getting closer....closer. Okay, time to start your descent. As I'm looking directly at it...Bloop!
GONE.
I search and search and drop down lower and circle and look and... NOTHING.
I rocket back up to max orbit and I go around and around and around and around and I change my orbit to a polar one and go around and around and I tweak my orbit again and go around and around and around. Then I jet on out in to space so I can see the whole planet and I go around in a huge orbit.
NO. FARSEER. BASE. Not any more. Gone.
The same "geological sites" go round and round and I see them on every pass--I'm pretty sure they were laughing and waving at me. But no felicity farseer.
Okay, no problem. I wasted all that time learning how to operate the DSS for nothing but that's okay. I can still find that base. The internet informs me from two sources that the coordinates for the base are 17.6252/79.6662. I can do this. I orbit until I'm close then drop down to 20 km altitude and decide to fly to the base. Takes a LONG time and I feel like an idiot for the entire trip but at least I'll get my precious blueprint. I monitor and nurse those numbers. I know this will work because I had to do the same thing to get to a barnacle forest site that showed up from orbit just long enough to get my hopes up before it also disappeared never to return. But...I digress again. I'm getting closer...closer...I should be able to see it. I'm right directly on top of it according to my coords. I roll over and look and see....
What do I see...?
What...?
NOTHING.
No base at the coordinates.
Spiral down! Get lower maybe it doesn't render at 20km. 10 km? 5km? Well...it should be rendering now.
Double check those coordinates. Make sure they are both positive. Yep. Check 'em again. Yep, I'm there.
NO. FARSEER. INC.
After some sleep I'll feel better and probably be ready to get back in the saddle but right now it's taking a lot of fortitude for me to even ask if anybody cares to tell me why doing a DETAILED SURFACE SCAN (as directed by multiple how-to's on the net) doesn't paint a planetary base and make it possible for me to actually go there.
As you can tell I don't know what I'm doing so please explain it as you would to a small child or mental deficient. You won't be off by much.
