Horizons Plant bases - how to find data towers

When assaulting plant bases with and SRV, how (what instruments) do you use to find the data towers – and how do you know how many there are. Was assaulting a +++ low security one in the hope of acquiring MEF, Found two towers, but no idea how many others there were or how to find them. Driving around aimlessly did not work. Feel like I have missed something really obviously and will feel stupid when it is pointed out – at least I hope so.

I'm probably not doing it right either, but I use my eyeball MK 1. First tower sighted, scan it and it tells you how many there are. Then either get lucky and manage to find all within the time limit or rescan once all have been located after the countdown runs out. That said, I rather sit at the mission boards with a chance of one measly firmware or whatever than doing those base scans.

Thanks. Eyeball mk1 less than effective. I think I scanned a tower that gave a payout, but did not count towards the total needed.

Have a look for a thread about "modified embedded firmware" (or suchlike) - it gave links to videos and maps of the various bases....

I've wasted hours trying to find "the last" tower with no success...

Hope you have better luck if you are at a base without a map available.

Another useful link here from Devari with a lot of good info pulled together in one place. Maps,routes, settlement types etc.

Thanks all. Seems I was also scanning the wrong towers - the fat roundish ones - as well as data points. Live and learn.

You can get intel packages from some of those white ones - the core hub or something, not a lot but still some credits - don't scan the private ones though as that gets you attacked, stick to public.
