PvP Plasma Accelerators and Target Lock Breakers...

I do not understand why people love TLB PA's so much. Let me start this thread by stating my opinion:

Unless you are;
-Rinzler,
-In a Vulture with two advanced PA's with TLB,
-Fighting a bulky ship

TLB is pretty much useless.
You see this button?

When you push this button, your ship automatically selects the ship that attacked you in the last few seconds. Meaning that the only thing you need to do to counter TLB is to press a button on your keyboard.
It's not that hard. Really. You press buttons on your keyboard all the time. You can do this too.

TLB only gets annoying when you get hit by one every 0,5 seconds, like the example I gave about Rinzler's Vulture loadout. But, how often do you see a PvP build that contains more than one TLB Plasma Accelerator? Not to mention that a lot of people don't have enough skill to accurately stay on the lead indicator of the PA's to land every single shot.

Besides, having to pay your ship's insurance because you've been hit by an Oversized PA is a lot more annoying than having to press a button on your keyboard because you've been hit by a TLB PA.

My point is; unless you are planning to make a wacky build that contains multiple rapid fire/advanced Plasma Accelerators, TLB is useless and can be countered with the push of a button.

And don't even bother bringing up missiles. We all know that there are only three weapons in the game: Rail guns, PA's and Multi-cannons.

So please explain to me why I should get a TLB PA instead of one with a different experimental.

Going to assume you have never been in a fight with more than one opponent running TLB?

Try that and then come back.

Although I think there has been a cool down added recently... before that, it was just dumb.

I mainly do 1v1 duels, but I have been in some wing fights before.
Hard to land so many PA shots on me when I'm constantly boosting around and changing trajectory in my Fer-de-Lance...

1v1 its a minor inconvenience.

2+ v 1 with people that can hit you (it's not that hard) and it used to be comically OP

In a wing fight what will you do if the target your team is focusing isn't the one shooting you with TLB? Targeting highest threat won't help.

TLBs are good against seekers and SP railguns. Or any kind of tracking weaponary. Ofcourse, dispersial is better but this one second where your opponent deselects you causes turrets and gimbals to reset, costing an additional second to reallign them. So you got 2 seconds to do whatever you want, for example boost away. They have a use though yes, the recent nerf made them pretty much unviable. Only use TLB if you have another PA to spare and don't know what effect to put on it.

Before the cooldown facing a wing that had eight to twelve TLB weapons between them, while alone, was annoying enough for me to base my entire weapon loadout around the need to fight with no sensor lock at all.

It's still a potent effect, but I'm going to reevaluate most of my larger ship loadouts to account for the fact that I now have a lead indicator in PvP.

It's used as a minor inconvenience and missile deterrent than anything really.

Huh... well... we ain't keyboarders :D

I have select next hostile and select highest threat on reasonable accessible mappings for this reason. But there remains the loss of subtarget, and wing aspects. The nerf significantly reduced the usefulness of APA though.

As far as OP's "how often do you see a PvP build that contains more than one TLB Plasma Accelerator?" the first time I got truly and thoroughly crushed by a skilled PvPer was from a dual TLB FAS hulltank. I barely landed 3 volleys over two rebuys. Learned a lot from those whoopings.

Yes youre right but if it was a balance change they would know and say so. Also it was not in the patch notes so the possibility that its a bug is relativly high.

TLB being "Nerfed"/broken, is a bit of a strange one.

Missiles are now stupidly OP. And backwards railspam appears to have returned.

But good fights are more interesting and more fun now. (No more 2.4 God roll Rapid fire APA/3.0 Rapid fire APA FAS for me certainly)
You can't just blaze down someones targeting with plasma spam, you actully have to work which is more fun.

A strange thing. Maybe rebuff it to remove all subtargeting and missile locks, but not remove the target for fixed/gimbal.

That way it serves its original purpose without going back to being utterly game breaking for players who don't move around sufficiently, or can't due to thier preffed ship.

It's an irritant from my perspective. I just hit the target button again and instantly lock back on but it diverts attention for a fraction of a second. It contributes to a sense of button mashing that kind of just makes the experience a hassle. Pips, triggers, boost, lateral/vertical, module targeting and SLF orders are enough. An effect that just requires you to repeatedly mash another button just to keep a target gets old. It's like "oh hey, fighting a human this time. Prepare for maximum button mashing because hes pretty guaranteed to have the magic TLB" I use it because it's used on me but honestly wish this effect would go away.
