'ere what has happened to it, all my normal trade routes seem to have stopped trading it, is it just me or has anyone else found that?

Do we have to go and mine it ourselves now?

Surely ther is somewhere with it.

Any (polite) suggestions most appreciated and welcome

I don't recall platinum ever being available for trade and indeed you have to mine it.

Are you sure you're not mistaking it for Palladium?

Platinum, Pantite and Osmium are mineable only afaik apart from at Hutton Orbital (obligatory joke). Possibly with a few new ones since 2.0 got released.

2.0 also changed a few things with trading in case you meant palladium, especially with planetary outposts etc.

Its been a while since i've traded Platinum, did a route last month with my trade app but that's been it sadly.
