played with my dad.

im actually playing with my 55 year old dad, who still calls dinner "supper". he got his buddies to buy this game and now he and them spend hours playing it.
they got even more excited when i told them about the expansion packs like walking inside the ships, and co-piloting, and planetary landings with so much more stuff to do. they were teary eyed.
anyways, anyone else crossing generational borders with this game?

Yep. My daughters think it looks "cool", and one of them sits behind me and watches me play the game sometimes.

My dad is 55 and he missed and completely let the gaming boat pass him by. Never had an interest. He phones me up every other week to ask if its left click or right click or some basic laptop query.

My mother was even worse, 55 too, when I was younger I told her to get me a mouse for Christmas for my amiga and she said she wasnt having one of those filthy things in her house.

I'm not kidding either.

They both missed the gaming generation.

I dont know what the hell they did instead. I'm an only child so, I dont know.

My old dad is 84 and upto recently still played diablo 2 and Titan Quest on a regular basis. No way he could play ED now, ten-fifteen years earlier maybe besides his pc is getting old like him (think its a p4 coproc ). Tried to get him to get a new machine but no joy says he is in gods waiting room now as he puts it, i then try to point out my gran lived to 94 but to no avail

Just seen your link to your group btw Mobius seeing as im 56 and prefer pve sounds ideal to me.

I will be 60 in December and two of my 3 boys (30 & 29) both play as well.

It is a bit like going to a Pink Floyd concert and findin a multi-generational audience all enjoying the same great gig.

They did weird things like read, use their imagination, talk to friends....

I'm 44, and the original Elite came out when I was starting high school. That's also right about when PCs started to go mainstream. I remember how advances the Apple IIe seemed after having initially seen an Apple IIc and IBM clones. In college, Windows finally came out on PC based systems.

Keeping that in mind, and with your father being 11 years older than me, he would have been well into the workforce before computer gaming became a standard activity. (Unless he played on some of the earlier Atari or Intellivision consoles.) By then, I can see gaming going by the wayside as you develop a career, buy a house, start a family, etc. Especially if it never really was part of your recreational package anyway.

Perhaps show him some videos of ED ?

My dad - 60 old playing quake 2 regullary...

... it good to know, there in space, are some grow up players, not kids/teens.

I am the old guy - 51 - trying to persuade the next generation to play. Unfortunately at the moment Destiny, Dota and Minecraft stand in the way.

Cheese's Crust!

I got the shock of my life when I read this thread title!

Still, nevermind that. The more playing this game, the better
